Soustons is situated in the extreme South-West of France, about 40 km north of Biarritz and closed to the Spanish boarder. So its a very long journey for those who come from Germany, Great Britain or Scandinavia.

Railway can be an alternative – next station is Dax, 28 km away – but flights might be better; and less expensive.

Biarritz – 60 km away; among others: RyanAir
Pau – 110 km; RyanAir
Bordeaux – 150 km; Lufthansa, AirFrance
Bilbao – 200 km ; Hapag Lloyd Express
San Sebastian – 100 km

On the French highways you have to pay toll in most cases; otherwise they are not crowded and in excellent condition; so driving even very long distances is not as exhausting. Exception is the Paris area, here you should avoid the “difficult” times – which is the whole day finally..Best is between midnight and 5.00- 6.00 in the morning, rush hour is an absolutely dispensable experience.

Behind Paris you take the A 10 “ Aquitaine” direction Bordeaux. Next to Poitiers you can change to the N 10 direction Angoulème, this is almost like highway, 25 km less and without toll (difference: EUR 15,-). In Bordeaux both join again and you follow direction Bayonne until Magescq, then Soustons is marked.
