The “ Silver Coast” of the Atlantic Ocean is about seven km away, the Pyrenees can be seen in the distance most days. The area of Landes is overrun by beautifil pine forests. Near us there is a well maintained cycle track which runs 20km through the trees.This is lovely for jogging or cycling. The roads are also perfect for cycling with minimal traffic and good surface for racing bikes.

The Pyla Dune (above right) can be reached by bike and so can the Basque region, which is a rich hilly green landscape, perfect for medium to tough rides, and littered with pocket villages and picturesque architecture.

Interesting places can easily be reached by car. The following take 1 to 2 hours: San Sebastien; St Jean de Luz; the caves of Sare, Isturitz and Oxtozelaha; Pau; Tarbes; Salles de Béarn. The central Pyranees are also one to two hours away depending on where you go, and can be a fantastic area for more difficult cycles. Biarritz and it's beautiful cliffs are 30 minutes away.

Even without rowing the area of "Landes" is a great area, and has so much for you to discover, as well as being the perfect setting for a productive camp.
